an ode to my roots <3 (more under the cut!)

hihi friends! a lot of busy changes and big updates have been happening in my life, but throughout it all, i just want to earnestly, genuinely thank everyone on here for making this a safe space i can feel at home on throughout it all :,)

on one hand, i thought of celebrating a big follower milestone i hit just today, or even the absolute hilarity that is how that one random sdvn sketch somehow blew up without warning (or even the fact that my birthday is coming up in T-minus a few hours!!), but, i realized that beyond that, i don’t even need a reason to want to give back and engage more w this community :,3 i just love it so much that i wanna remember to have fun w the little things along the way note: i'm new to a LOT of these ideas here^ so any boosts and all tips/tricks/advice would be greatly appreciated! im literally babey jhelp me gddhhdj

Hol up. I just got an idea. Yo, what if DC gave neglected character some boring likes/hobbies one day to like maybe have people not look for her in every thing they let out. Maybe making her favorite food bread but it backfires, like most of it, and you just see fanarts and stuff of people just taking neglected character to bakeries and buying her most of the pastries, especially bread pudding and banana/pumpkin/carrot bread, then bread based merchandise from DC, just a simple pin of chibified neglected character having a slice of toast in her mouth and sitting on a loaf of bread, boom. Sold out in a week or less. You don't have to include this at all, it's just a funny little thought I had :)

I honestly feel like DC would actually do this ! Like it's around the time they're about to release a new Robin adventures comic and during that time they also had a neglected character's run so to draw more traction to their new release someone had a brilliant idea to release this mini shorts on their tik tok page - it's literally about the batfam talking about their favorite interests -

Bruce is like ' I love beating criminals ' , dicks like ' gymnastics babbyyy' , Jason is like ' idk man but I only love my guns ' (yes they wrote my boy down to a gun freak in this au that's how shitty they are) tim is like , ' I hack billion dollar business ' and Damian is like ' feeding my pet dragon' and last of all neglected character is like , ' idk man I just like bread :3'.

Like they really are trying to make the others look cooler and more appealing, but somehow - against all odds ( the dc reader fanbase just loves neglected character ) everyone begins posting their bread recipes- bakeries around the world literally got a huge profit because everyone started flocking there to eat bread .

DC really just shot themselves in the foot AGAIN because instead of making Robin merch, they're making chibi acrylic pins of neglected character eating bread - a whole nendroid was released of chibi neglected character nibbling on crossants.

The batfam tried copying, neglected character too but backfired miserably since readers and viewers weren't really unterested in it and that made them pissed lmao.

DC thought after a month this silly trend would die down and everything would go back to Robin and other batfam members but nope - a fan literally made an intricate real life figure of neglected character in a bakery making bread - and literally the whole fanbase went wild -

Literal memes arised out of it like " Of course the goat (neglected character ) can cook !" , " My goat ( neglected character) had to start cooking to save us from whatever DC is doing ( referring to the random time skip) , " they're so babygirl".

🌟 ART SUMMARY 2024 🥂

this was a year where i didnt draw a lot, despite that, i tried to make every drawing count. thank you all for the support in 2024, here's to 2025 ! 🫶

i continued my goals from last year with regards to perfectionism. the tldr is that i strongly feel my perfectionism kept me away from completing as many drawings as i could, and i had to make an effort to just finish drawings no matter how lukewarm I felt about them. especially since i could just edit them a bit afterwards, i've tried to get over the fear of reuploading. 2024 was a strange year, it came and went in the blink of an eye, even more than previous years! life has been stressful, so i've been trying to focus more on myself and taking time off drawing. ironic, although i think i succeeded in that above goal, i expected to get more drawings out of it, but ended up taking more time off drawing anyways. towards the end of the year, i started feeling more burnt out, and drawing became a slow and arduous process. i think part of the reason was because 2024 was my first year doing 5 events - 2 full weekend conventions (anime north and otakuthon), and 3 single day events (bamtori fall aapi market, toronto game expo, bamtori jinglebam market), when in the past 2 years i'd just opt to do 1-2 local cons. it was also my first time doing single day events, which were super chill! although you have to both set up and tear down on the same day, i felt more casual at those events, had more time to chat and look around. back to my point - despite being fun, doing so many events took its toll on me - especially during the colder months of the year, where i wasn't so used to going to events haha! usually i take fall as the time to rejuvenate and recover from summer events, but i couldn't really do that this year. i kept questioning myself, "does this drawing have appeal? will people buy this?" "is my art hireable?" and it's just not a healthy mindset to have. next year i'll try to draw more of what i enjoy and what's on my mind, instead of worrying too much if it's sellable! *feeling like the HAHA YES sickos meme* - 2025 art goals outlined below: - oc zine (aiming for a character guide with some test comics) - character interactions & poses! e.g. dancing, hugs - generally stuff that's more difficult to draw. my art is more illustrative, but sometimes i wished it was more engaging emotionally? like i want people to smile and cry with my characters... - illustrations that challenge me. when i say illusts that challenge me it's pretty abstract - do research and gather inspiration for every illust.. compositions that are difficult/complex and take a while to draft.. strong theme.. it's more for me to understand AHAHAHA. as the years go by you can see my art becoming more unified in theme and self indulgent... i want to keep going, i want to make art that is uniquely mine. less priority: - get used to sketching! truly miss how i used to fill up sketchbooks every year - sticker sheets (this is on the less priority list bc i will probably fulfill this goal regardless) - oc merch (happy with the stickers i made in the last 2 yrs, let's keep going!) - silly things! e.g. 4koma, silly doodles. comedy is an art, it IS a skill you can study and chip away at (e.g. comedians and comedy writers). make sure i take notes on really stand-out jokes i find funny & why

other various things to try and draw more of: - group pictures - animals - layouts and props. i find layouts and anything with hard surfaces difficult to draw, which is why i draw a lot of flowers and fabric LMAO. one thing i gotta do is start by either drawing characters holding props more (easy baby steps!) and/ or start drawing props around them and make my way towards harder things (e.g. practice drawing a character sitting, i'll start by drawing a simple chair, then a table, then objects on that table). this is also one of my weaknesses - draw the ground they're standing on if possible, e.g. characters standing on a grid - vehicles, if i can. i mostly draw stuff from fantasy series where cars don't exist LOL but i'll try...

I love this blog so much! I'd love to see some more art of the daycare itself or the caregivers working with the kids in each of theor jobs. Is there any plans for that in the future? also I'd love to know more about the real world vs daycare/digital world and how that works! this is such a comfy and cozy story!

This answer will be a little long as I'll go through each point! And also because I'm a yapper </3

This whole story started as a silly conversation between me and my friend Omu because we both love daycare AUs and are generally big comforts to us. The real world is not any different while the digital one, as stated in the other ask I answered, is set in an old fashioned flash games site.

The Kinito digital pet was not successful, so Sonny decided to aim at a younger audience compared to the teens. He make a few flash games and rebranded the mascots to match the purpose of their new ambience

Tho, Sonny used the same code of the digital pet to make sure Kinito was able to learn what the kids needed, hence making him sentient. He saw how a lot of kids were sad, some bullied even by their own parents, so he did the most reasonable thing he could think of: a safe place for them.

Everytime a kid would be sad, Kinito would bring them to the daycare for a while, then bring them back to the real world. Of course, this concerned parents and threatened Sonny's project but the latter saw it as an opportunity to solve oh so many problems related to parenting. The daycare was a free spot to leave the kids at if the parents had to stay away, the parents could ask for tips to the digital caregivers if they found themselves stuck, and in bad situations Kinito was able to connect to the Child Protective Services through internet. Since the site was free, the money was obtained through merch, but there was also an option for donations on the site and subscriptions for exclusive merch.

With the story settled, to answer your questions, I am absolutely planning to draw and write lots of stuff! I will post the doodles I already have in a bit now that the PSA cards are ready. On the other hand I'm hesitant to share the fics I wrote because they contain a little mention to bad parenting and impure regression (which, for context, is when you regress under high levels of stress and you find yourself stuck in that state)

In the meantime tho I can give you some more headcanons!

Each caregiver's appearance, as you can see, resembles their respective role.

Kinito is the main mascot and is a plushy, based also a lot on Winnie the Pooh. He's very patient and sweet and is in charge of anything that happens during day time, whether it'll be playing, reading, teaching, coloring and so on

Sam is in charge of night time and is a night light, can change the intensity of his light and also the warmth of his body. Kids all dogpile on him when it's nap time because he's super warm and cozy

Jade is the mother figure of all kids and adults included, she's in charge of snack time and she's based off a teething toy! She also helps teaching kids to clean after themselves (usually Sam is included with the kids for his laziness /silly)

Another silly thing all of them can do is pull a command prompt and turn you into a kid, that's what basically happens to Aspen all times he's portrayed as a child. They can physically make you regress and let you participate in all the activities, they care a lot for their fellow age regressors just as much they care for their kids

The daycare in general is structured very similar to the one on FNAF:Security Breach, that place is very comforting for me especially Sun and Moon so ofc I based myself off of that hehe

The main area is the day time one, with different places for different activities, then on the sides there would be the snack time area and nap time area, so every caregiver has its place but can still move around to interact with the kids

Helpers are always welcome! All of the other human caregivers are active volunteers from the real world! Whether it'll be because they like doing it in their free time or because they want a place to train themselves in the subject, maybe soon to be parents considering the options even.

Of course this brings to a huge utopia but who cares am I right? We deserve to be happy <3

But on a more serious note, I don’t have a job and am labeled as unfit to work, I am on benefits and currently waiting to hear back from housing and have been for over a year now. I couch surf between families houses and I’m very grateful to them the rent is fairly low and they have been lovely to me. Despite that I’m a bit short on money to say the least and my walking stick has broken and my wheelchair has been in a state of disrepair for a while.

tbh ive been contemplating a silly oneshot sequel to as you like it but i do have to actually finish the damn thing before i even think about that so ill leave it there.

im actually notoriously bad at killing my darlings so i didn't think i'd have that many deleted scenes, but i did find a few older versions of the makoto&ren scene in chapter 6 of as you like it that i had completely forgotten about. looking back on these i actually still like them

v1.0 of the grounding sequence ren goes through after his nightmares. i think i cut this because it was too long and didn't flow well in context, but im sort of fond of it in isolation:

2. a character whose POV you’re currently exploring

ren! i think he's fun because he's the player character and the protags are generally designed to be pretty malleable (or personalityless if you're feeling uncharitable... or wrong) so obviously there's a temptation to just make him whatever your story needs him to be, but i think he's a really tempting and interesting opportunity to really get your claws into a guy who has a personality but refuses to show it and have that be one of his character traits. he's so adaptable to every situation but there are so many moments where his stubbornness and inner values shine through in his limited dialogue, so the challenge becomes like, how do you deduce the rest of a character's hidden personality based on the little they show you? how do you unpack someone whose character is that he wants to be whoever you want him to be? what's going on in his mind? how do you understand him and fill in the gaps in a way that's consistent with what he does in canon when he gives you so little to work with? this is an irresistible challenge to me so he just lives in my brain. he's not even renting he owns the place and he doesnt have a mortgage

3. how you feel about your current WIP

i think palacefic is the project that ignites the most personal passion and excitement in me so im really so excited to finish writing it so i can share it and also so i can read it instead of reading my own chickenscratch notes and think about how excited i am to write it

4. a story idea you haven’t written yet

i keep coming back to circle this idea of postcanon akeshu and how they navigate a relationship (word used free of connotation) where they are constantly circling each other and obviously cant do without each other but also like. are so codependent and not at all functional enough to really have a normal romantic relationship or even friendship. i wrote like a short scene of this which i put on twitter a while back i might actually post it here. and i also started a short fic just to get some thoughts down but never had any plans for how to continue it

So… what do y’all do when you wanna do a bajillion things but you can’t settle on which thing to do so you just kind of end up doing nothing?

… lissen I’m still only recently diagnosed with adhd so I still don’t know how to work with it… I wanna draw so many things, wanna make merch, comics, I wanna write a fuckton of silly cringe fanfics… I wanna make videos? Like maybe youtube videos rambling abt stuff while drawing but then I don’t know if anyone would even be interested in that, and besides I haven’t done video editing in…. Probably close to 20years? What program should I use? Anyone got any tips on that?

I also wanna try doll customization cause it’s kinda only been the last decade or so where I’ve allowed myself to like dolls… reasons for that being … uh… gender stuff… it’s like only now in my life, around 30 have I finally gotten somewhat close to getting a grasp on my gender and sexuality, and I never even really realized before that this was something I had a problem with? Which probably makes no sense tbh…

I also wanna do sculpting and even paint, after art school teachers made me feel like I should never paint again bcs idk man I wasn’t up to their standards 🤷

And… I wanna do all this stuff but not only does brain say ‘adhd my guy’ but there’s also my increasing health issues that… I mean I’ve always had them but I guess getting older makes it harder and harder to constantly deal with them… and that’s another thing I never really realized was so bad until back when I was in Japan in 2015-2016 as an exchange student and would have to go to the hospital increasingly often bcs of pain nobody could diagnose… aand then I was shamed for it bcs having to go to the hospital in the middle of the night sometimes was a huge hassle to the dorm staff, idk I was a problem…

Since then I’ve had two operations and will probably need to have more in the future. Also, amusingly, when I finally got diagnosed I was looking at the list of symptoms, all of which I could relate to in at least some way, but the ones that stood out, for some reason, were ‘constant exhaustion’ and then below it was ‘insomnia’ and… maybe I’m not actually lazy when I’m tired all the time? But y’know, I don’t really wanna use a chronic condition as an excuse to just do nothing, plenty of ppl have chronic problems but still do stuff with their life… but when I think like that I also remember this isn’t a ‘pain competition’ or something like that and different people just have different capabilities to deal with chronic pain and such… idk, I honestly think I’m still trying to come to terms with the realization that being exhausted and in pain all the time probably counts as some kind of disability….. but I don’t feel like I’m allowed to say I’m disabled bcs I do also have good days, you know? I should probably try harder to just DO things?

Ahem, it’s like 9AM and I haven’t been able to sleep and stuff hurts… I just wanna go do something productive but instead I’m whining on here which I probably shouldn’t do bcs this is the internet and strangers can see what you post and maybe use it against you but also sometimes you just really wanna rant into the void… or maybe more like semi-void cause idk, maybe someone reads this and can relate or give advice or just talk or something? Buuut you suck at talking… then later you feel embarrassed about your tired rambles and probably end up deleting them and just bring them up in therapy later like you should…

Anyway, until this embarrassment pops up I’m probably gonna try to find some painkillers and go draw or something -3-

nao used to be very quiet in a lot of her classes; a nice person, certainly, and easy to talk to! but rather closed off unless you tried to pry, where even that would just be rude and she'd say as much.

but of course, there were small things here and there she'd share with her friends should you happen to overhear. usually, it'd be anime/manga that she'd recommend to others (usually horror with interesting concepts, though she wasn't immune to well-written 'slice of life's) - which resulted in hana (her best friend) actually buying her a keychain for her bag!! nao doesn't usually wear/buy merch, as she fears she'll lose/damage them, but... since her friend got it, she felt she'd be disappointed if she didn't show it off.

&...! this is the spark for professor mishima to actually prompt her on her interests; one of the few things she'd end up rambling on about... and he has enough context to keep her going!

it was nice getting to see her actually relax a bit, if a bit surprising to realize that she liked horror so much... and of course, it was when she inevitably brought it back to art (she was inspired to become an artist from such a silly thing, though mishima assures he understands) that she started getting nervous again; as much as she loves it, she can't draw it well. it doesn't feel like it could fit her style much at all - she intimidates herself out of drawing it.

however! mishima does not lose hope so easily. he encourages her to keep trying & experimenting with her art. after all, art is something she should have for herself if nothing else...

although mishima doesn't typically work with horror, he does have plenty of pointers on how to incorporate characters into a backdrop (it provides variation + reflects his current views too... people being a part of something larger, connected through means they don't quite realize); he had a similar start to nao in that he often relied heavily on portraits/character focus, but for that reason can help lead her along into slowly branching out.

a lot of what nao likes is the eerie - something that you have to really look at to realize how off it is. working on backgrounds such as these definitely helps with integrating characters in a more natural manner! and helps improve her work altogether, too...!! she's having more fun than she used to with her personal projects, where she previously felt stagnant but couldn't pinpoint why (and felt guilty to ask hana, as the response would always be a well-meaning "but i like your art! i don't think that at all" rather than critique she wished for), so it was...!! really nice for her to have <3

and... getting to show a trusted adult that, too, made her very happy. her parents didn't often see art as something that'd work out... but she finally felt pride in her work, and had something else to look forward to when it came to classes, rather than simply skirting by day-to-day. it took about a year and a half of school to get here, but... it makes it feel worth it.

it's also around this late time of the year, too, that mishima casually mentions he's trans.

one of the other students is complaining about the cold, and he agrees a bit too personally that skirts are awful in this weather before offering his usual advice... and it's this moment that stays in nao's mind. combined with previous comments here and there about the dysmorphia in horror...

despite this near-confirmation... nao waits until the very end of the year before she admits to the professor that she's trans. she hasn't really socially transitioned yet, only a few friends know, and she's still a bit afraid she might've misunderstood that he's trans... but it all turns out well by the end of it <3

however, since she's about to enter her last year with people who mostly knew her as a boy, it's only when she graduates that mishima offers to help put word in to adjust her uniform; which she greatly appreciates... also, throughout her last year, they get to actually discuss how it is to be mixed & that is when he offers to learn arabic with her. she was never taught it, and is too embarrassed to ask her parents, so he's taken it upon himself to help her with that too... here and there, still as her mentor and friend even after their time in school :'D

ok. ranking all the outfits in this merch line actually

in first place we have nagi. no question. slaying. killing it. serving cunt. the snappy red on white? the HEELS? the LACE CUFFFS? the brocade? the single gorgeously contrasting touch of green? he literally used the slayper rifle to shoot the mother bullet into the head of john f cuntedy. ironic for a guy who never gives a shit about anything but we can only assume he has a stylist. again i cannot overemphasize: the fucking HEELS. they had to hide those things halfway offscreen because they were afraid of his power

reo taking second place because he can never be separated from his husband <3 i'm biased because i looove the color purple but i seriously think this fit is sooo cute. the old-fashion formality is kind of silly but moe in its own way (bro is wearing a cummerbund lol) and the blueberry themed accents really tie it together. not much to add but i really love it. my lil purple fancyboy <3

isagi's fit here is a close third and i was originally going to tie him with reo but my love of purple won out. this one is just solid all around and the light green is a nice color. the necklace is so cunty. however points off for the official merch making yet another attempt to convince me that isagi's image color is green. i will never accept this. i will never cede. look at him he's fucking blue

ok chigiri's fit is walking a fine line here for me. the concept is ADORABLE and i LOVE the strawberry theme but i feel like it would look better on a type of fashion more equipped to handle that kind of whimsy, for example a lolita dress. as it is it is still hugging the serious formalwear theme a bit too closely and so the whimsy ends up looking kind of clownish in that context, it's too goofy, it doesn't fit. kind of a miss for me but love the concept, please go back to the drawing and make it into a dress, let chigiri wear lolita, etc

ok well we can barely see bachira's fit here because of his fuckass pose but it's like, sure, ok, idk. i like the jacket but the pants are really a sticking point. the plaid looks goofy as hell but i guess that goofiness fits bachira but i still would nawt want to wear this. the boots are ADORABLE but tucking the pants into them like this just looks so weird. this is another thing that could have been fixed with feminization because if the plaid pants had been a plaid lolita-style skirt it would have been much cuter AND let the boots shine

So, today was a somewhat eventful day. Nothing particularly happened but I went outside!! I accomplished a few things and I think that's a positive worth being proud of.

I noticed that I'll hit affinity level 100 with Xavier today/tomorrow and that was something in the game that I've been anticipating for a while. It's gonna be on the 150th day that I started playing, as a person that pays extra attention to dates n stuff and find them very meaningful, it means a lot to me that it conveniently happened. I have some exciting things planend (that I hopefully have the energy for to actually do) but more on that later. Let's first list what I did today!

I showered, washed my bedding & change them back. A package for me arrived but the delivery guy didn't leave a note, it turned out he never even drove past here, he just immediately left the package at some pick up location that was a little further from here. So I went and picked it up ! It was 2 mini plushies. Instead of my big jacket that I usually wear I also wore something lighter! My Kiara/frogiwawa merch jacket to be exact. It might not seem like a big deal but to me it is. Bc I get very anxious and self cautious whenever I go outside, I barely switch up how I present myself. It's always that one jacket that I have for half a jacket and a fairly newer one (it should be like 2 years old now, lol) purple sporty-jacket. It retired my red hoodie-jacket that's like 10 years old. (It's still holding up pretty well tho! Still love it lots.) So yeah, that + disliking showing skin/feeling naked or exposed/needing to feel that something is covering me it might draw a picture why it's a big deal to me. Plus not to mention that it's. technically merch and it has froggy ears which isn't the most casual thing to wear outside. xD If it wouldn't have been an okay day today, I would've heavily felt like people are judging me for it. I have that a lot whenever I wear hair accessories outside. It's the second time I wore it actually, the first one was when I was bringing Chi to the vet clinic for the first time, but I was wearing it underneath my bigger jacket since it was a chilly day, so this technically counts as the first time I've wore it "correctly." I think mentally I did a good job.

For a few years I've always wanted to try out those instant photo print machines they have at stores, but the idea of using them scared me. "What if people stare at me while I use them? What If I make a mistake? What if the machine dies on me? What if I take an unusual amount of time and people will be weirded out? what if this, or that, or pineapples." I was always saying "yeah I'll do it another time, next time, yeah." To myself, because I never felt ready. They intimated me too much which is so silly to think about but to defend myself, these stores usually get visited by quite a lot of people that I know, (yes, I hide from them in the store and try to avoid them as best as I possibly can so they don't notice me.) and being "stuck" while printing photos and having someone catch and recognize me just to strike a conversation would destroy me and put me in a very bad spot. I'd have no escape routes, literally no way to retreat. I obv try not to put myself in those situations. But !! TODAY!! Today I did it!!! I wasn't even planning to or preparing myself! I just wanted to, went up to one of those machines, and plugged my phone in, and clicked!!! ( ∩•̀ ᗜ •́∩)!! Plugging my phone in was pretty unnecessary bc the machine ended up wanting me to connect via wifi + use QR codes lol. I initially just wanted to see how the process is done, so I could possibly do it tomorrow but since I already got so far with it I ended up printing things!! I chose the smallest options, I have this one cute idea of printing mini polaroids but the size didn't quite fit it, they ended up bigger (but still super awesome.) Printed 3 2-pic photos. 2 of my cat, 2 from me and Xavier and one was something for my parents bc I didn't wanna come home and only have chi and my fictional boyfriend to show. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)... ! I really liked how they turned out and that I managed to do it. I also picked up a keychain for my Xavier-charm project (that I'll do tomorrow) and a set of bow hair-clips. Went out the store very happy and satisfied. Hmh Hmh.

Since at that point it was already late, in the went out to buy lunch from another nearby convenience store. The idea was to get frozen pizza but I only buy those when they're on sale and they weren't there so I decided to get something from the instant-japanese-food section. I got chicken karage, maki rolls and Yakitori! It was my first time having karage and Yakitori and they were delicious. I wasn't expecting much but the quality of it actually surprised me, I'd definitely get it again. I dun often try new foods either so..(ᵕ—ᴗ—)... That's pretty much it for today, I think.. It's already 01:02 and I can get ready to hit affinity 100 now, since it's the 150th day! For the people that don't play otome games or are just curious, the character I like will give me a ring, that's why it's special. I can also equip it during the photo mode. I know it's silly and it's just a game, but it makes me very happy. I do get invested a lot. (And I don't wanna feel shame about things that make me feel joy and brighten my days)
